Scientists in Sydney, Australia have perfected new breakthrough cancer treatment which involves targeting tumors with nanocells that contain toxic, anti-cancer drugs. The nanocells are created from bacteria and are engulfed by the tumor after they attach to the tumor’s surface. Once inside the tumor, the nanocells break down and release the drugs, killing the tumor cell. The nanocells are also absorbed by the immune system and stimulate the natural immune response.
The scientists have achieved impressive survival rates in dogs with late stage brain tumors so far in the trials that have been conducted.
The company is called EnGeneIC and more information about their work can be found here.
